New poster and image for The Hunger Games

[brightcove]1275910811001[/brightcove]Ever since her hard-as-nails turn in Winter's Bone, we've known that Jennifer Lawrence is not a woman to be trifled with. And from the looks of the new poster for The Hunger Games, the same can probably be said for Katniss Everdeen. With the film's release just over two months away now, the new poster shows Katniss staring down the camera, her bow drawn and ready for action. "The world will be watching," squawks the tagline, and indeed it will, as the film is already one of the most hotly anticipated of 2012.Check it out:Meanwhile, a new image has emerged showing Katniss and her fellow Tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) preparing for the games' opening ceremony in a pair of fetching black jumpsuits. Lenny Kravitz's stylist Cinna stands by with an open flame, ready to set the pair ablaze as a final flourish."What Cinna was trying to do was create something that came out of District 12, out of a coal mining world, with a fresh, bold look to it," explains director Gary Ross. "So Judianna went to this wonderful black reflective material that glistened like coal or graphite and would obviously work well in the Tribute parade where Katniss becomes the Girl on Fire."They look pretty badass to us as they are, let alone when they're set alight! Expect the opening ceremony of The Hunger Games to have the Olympics licked when the film opens on 23 March 2012.
